Import of Jersey Heifers

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

We have recently been pleased to supply 90 incalf Jersey heifers from Denmark to establish a new pedigree herd in West Wales.

We were impressed by the quality of the cattle we could select from when we travelled in Denmark with our expert partner there.

Due to the strong pound we have been able to reduce the price of in-calf heifers.

This combines with a much bigger pool of quality heifers for us or you to select from.

A great opportunity for you to buy great cattle at great prices.

But … act quickly. It may not last long!!

Bluetongue Free Status for Holland & Germany

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

As from the 15th February, 2012 the EU has declared Holland and Germany officially free of Bluetongue.

This means that cattle from these 2 countries no longer have to comply with the strict vaccination programmes that were in place for export over the last few years , this despite there being no new cases of Bluetongue for nearly 3 years.

This means that our selectors/agents in both countries will have far more cattle available from which to choose when we source heifers and young cows for our clients in the UK.

The last few years have sometimes seen us struggling to fulfil all the orders we received. We are quite confident now that we can supply our farmers with the right cattle at the right time and of course, at the right price.

The recent strong pound has made us even more competitive in the overheated dairy market here in the UK.

Please contact us at any time to discuss your requirements.

Europon Livestock UK has recently made an agreement with Cork Marts in Ireland to work with them to source dairy stock for the UK farmer.

Cork Marts is a farmers co-op running 7 livestock markets in the south of Ireland. Located, right in the middle of one of the most densely populated dairy regions anywhere in the world, they are the perfect partners to have if you are looking for Irish dairy stock.

Most Irish dairy farms calve their cows in the spring (85%) and use low cost grazing systems.Their main breeding goals, when selecting genetics are : milk, protein percentage, cow fertility and longevity. Cow fertility, especially, has had a lot of attention in the last few years.

Most of the stock are part Holstein with a considerable percentage of Friesian blood maintained in the cows, to keep fertility and longevity in their stock. Some farmers are milking crossbreds with the main sires being Jersey, Montbeliarde and Norwegian Red.

Prices, delivered to farms in the UK are very reasonable and Europon Livestock can supply you with incalf or calved heifers and young cows. Stock like dairy heifer calves or yearlings are also available and easier to supply than from most other countries in Europe.

Don’t hesitate calling us to discuss these possibilities.

Recently, we have imported several loads of organic dairy heifers from mainland Europe for UK farmers. Organic farmers in the UK seem to find it difficult to source sufficient quality stock in the home market because of limited supply and problems with TB. The organic sector in mainland Europe is quite extensive and we are able to offer our UK clients a good choice of quality heifers. Officially certified organic heifers have recently been imported through us from Germany, Denmark and Holland.
